WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 10 women's tennis team defeated No. 44 Harvard at the Baylor Tennis Center Sun., Feb. 18, breaking a three-match losing streak that dated to back to the first of the month. The Bears' win bumps their season record to 3-4 overall.

Baylor started off strong picking up the doubles point with quick wins on courts two and three. Iva Mihaylova and Jessica Zok earned Baylor's win on court three defeating Julia Forgie and Vilsa Curto 8-1 while soon after Lenka Broosova and Klara Zrustova bested Preethi Mukundan and Elizabeth Brook 8-2 on court two.

The double momentum carried into singles as Baylor clinched the match within an hour of starting individual play. Mihaylova cleaned up on court six with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Curto and Zrustova followed suit handing Forgie a 6-0, 6-2 loss.

No. 38 Zok sealed the much needed win for the Bears on court three with a solid 6-1, 6-2 victory over Mukundan.

Wrapping up the remaining matches, Harvard's No. 16 Beire Ko retired her match on court leaving giving No. 38 Broosova the overall point. Ko won the first set 6-3 and Broosova led the second set 5-2 when Ko retired. Zuzana Chmelarova recorded Baylor's sixth point with a strong second set showing in her 6-4, 6-2 win over Brook on court four.

No. 91 Zuzana Cerna finished the day's final match with a 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 win over No. 80 Lena Litvak.

Baylor's women's tennis returns to action Sat., Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. against Ole Miss at the Baylor Tennis Center. As with all home matches, live scoring and full match results will be available at www.baylorbears.com.
