WACO, Texas - Baylor's equestrian team was edged Saturday afternoon 10-8 by Kansas State at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. The Bears fall to a 3-6 record on the season.
In Equitation on the Flat, Baylor picked up three points to the Wildcats' two. Nicole Brown (78) was the discipline's MVP, and Shelby White and Mary Smitson earned the other two points. Meanwhile in the outdoor arena the Bears and Wildcats split the Horsemanship points 2-2. Allison Orosz and Ashleigh Brown recorded the Western teams first points. Kansas State's Sarah Weller (75) was awarded the Horsemanship MVP honor.
Baylor entered the Equitation over Fences and Reining events with a one point advantage over Kansas State but was unable to hold the lead for a win. The Bears managed to take only one point over Fences giving four to the Wildcats. Nicole Brown (75) picked up the Fences point for Baylor while Wildcat Kendall Marvin was the discipline's MVP.
Finishing the day with Reining, the Bears needed to win three of the five points for a win. But Kansas State had its way and captured three points. BU's Amanda Graber and Lindsey Tomko earned points for Baylor while Madelyn Mooney was the MVP.
Baylor continues action Sat., March 3 hosting Auburn at 1 p.m.
