Women's Tennis Clinches Win over Rebels

ENNIS, Texas - Baylor's women's tennis team defeated Ole Miss Saturday afternoon 4-1. The match was moved from the Baylor Tennis Center to indoor courts due to increasingly windy weather conditions. The Bears now own a 4-4 record on the season.

Baylor dominiated doubles with wins on courts one and two. Zuzana Cerna and Zuzana Chmelarova defeated Ilona Somers and Kseniia Tokarieva 8-6 on court one before Klara Zrustova and Lenka Broosova clinched the doubles point with their court two 8-0 win over Carlin Cochran and Soledad Podlipnik. Sammie Gottlich and Jessica Zok won by default on court three.

In singles, Cerna dropped her court one match to Somers in three sets 7-5, 2-6, 10-8 but the other Bears stepped up to grasp the win. Zrustova won by default after leading Cochran 3-1 in the first set. Chmelarova breezed by Podlipnik to a 6-2, 6-2 win. Zok took Tokarieva to three sets after losing the first but rebounded to a 2-6, 6-2, 10-8 victory.

Baylor returns to action Tues., Feb. 27 in Forth Worth when the Bears travel to take on TCU at 5 p.m. in a widweek match.
