WACO, Texas - Baylor's equestrian team hosts the Georgia Bulldogs for the first time on Sat., Feb. 10 at 9:30 a.m. the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco, Texas. The meeting is Baylor's second home show this spring.
The Bears are coming off of a tough 14-6 loss to Texas A&M and are currently 3-4 overall this season. Despite the loss, Baylor's Mary Smitson was the high-point rider in the Equitation Over Fences event while Nicole Brown earned high-point honors in the Equitation On the Flat event.
The Bulldogs finished the fall with a record of 6-0, including two wins over Baylor in Athens, Ga., at the Bulldog Invitational. In the Baylor's first show against Georgia, Baylor fell 11-4. Wehle and Brown earned Baylor's two English points with their Fences wins while Graber (Horsemanship) and Riddle (Reining) tallied the two Western points.
In the Invitational's final match-up, Baylor took on Georgia again in a chance to claim the tournament title. Nicole Brown defeated both Bulldogs in her Fences and Flat rides and Foster (Fences) and Smitson (Flat) helped earn the English team's four points. The Western riders looked to tip the scales for the Bears with the 4-4 tied score. Unfortunately Graber was the only Bear to earn Western points, one from each ride in Reining and Horsemanship. Overall Georgia bested the Bears 9-6 and kept the Invitational title at home.
