WACO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team kicks off its 2007 campaign, as it travels to compete in the 21st-Annual Louisiana Classics, hosted by UL-Lafayette, on March 5-6 at Oakbourne Country Club. Baylor enters the tournament ranked 33rd in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches' Poll.

Last year, the Bears finished second out of 15 teams, finishing one shot behind team champion Houston. Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) shot a final round 71 to earn individual medalist honors.

Alcorn shot below par in all three rounds, shooting a 3-under 69 in the first round and a 5-under 67 in the second round, and gave the Bears their fourth straight individual and fifth overall for the year. The victory is the fifth of Alcorn's career, one behind the school's all-time leader,2006 senior Ryan Baca

Then-junior Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) notched his third straight top-10 finish by also tying for sixth at 213. Frye finished with a 73 after an opening-round 72 and a second-round 68. Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) and Brian Meck (Austin, Texas), now juniors, each tied for 22nd at 217. Williams shot a 75 after a 72-70 day Monday, while Meck carded a 74 after rounds of 70 and 73 on the opening day.

Last season, Baylor placed seventh at the Big 12 Championships held at Southern Hills C.C. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Bears earned a berth in the NCAA West Regional at Omni Tucson National G.C. in Tucson, Arizona, finishing 20th out of 27 teams.
