Men's Golf Tied for Third After First Round

AWENDAW, S.C. - The Baylor men's golf team shot a one-under 283 in the first round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C. The Bears are tied for third place heading into day two on Monday.

Central Florida leads the overall competition with a 14-under round of 270 on the par-71 course that measures 7,261 yards. Florida State is second at 10-under par.

Jeremy Frye (Palestine, Texas) leads the way for the Bears with a three-under round of 68 to earn a tie for sixth place after the first round. Jeremy Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) is tied for 12th with a 70 to finish the first day at one-under par.

Colton Turnquist (Austin, Texas) is tied for 28th at one-over par (72), while Wes Williams (Franklin, Tenn.) and Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) are tied for 40th with a two-over par score of 73.

Teammates Preston Brown and Greg Forest of Central Florida sit atop the individual competition after carding rounds of five-under par (66). The Golden Knights recorded three of the top five rounds on the day as Nuno Henriques finished the day at four-under par.

Baylor returns to action on Monday for the second round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate.
