STOCKTON, Calif. -- Lance Sewell held Baylor to two runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts over 8.0 innings as San Diego State defeated the Bears 6-2 in final-day action at the Pacific State Bank Tiger Classic hosted by University of the Pacific at Klein Family Field. Baylor (9-6) finished 1-2 on the weekend.

Chase Gerdes had two of Baylor's three hits, including a two-run double in the top of the second that plated the game's first runs. However, San Diego State got a run back in the fourth on Nick Romero's sacrifice fly and then erupted for five runs on five hits and a Baylor error in the fifth. Four of the Aztecs' five hits in the fifth were doubles.

Baylor starter Cliff Springston (1-2) was touched for six runs, three of which were earned, on seven runs and a walk with no strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

Gerdes' two-run double in the second was the Bears' second hit of the inning as Seth Hammock led off with a single through the left side. Baylor did not get another hit until Gerdes led off the eighth with a single to right; however, he was stranded there.

Baylor returns to action Tuesday, hosting Texas State for a 6:30 p.m. CST first pitch at Baylor Ballpark. The Bears defeated the Bobcats 10-4 at Baylor Ballpark earlier this season.

NOTES: Baylor leads the all-time series 5-2. The teams last met in 1994 when the Bears won two games in a three-game series at Ferrell Field. ... Aaron Miller saw his career-long six-game hitting streak end.
