WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 14 women's tennis team earned its third-straight Big 12 Title Saturday afternoon with a solid 7-0 victory over Iowa State at the Baylor Tennis Center. The conference championship is the fourth in the program history, all earned under current head coach Joey Scrivano, who missed the celebration due to a recruiting trip. His Bears now own an overall record of 19-6 and a league mark of 10-1.

The weekend win is Baylor's 11th-straight win in dual matches and its eighth-straight Big 12 win this season.

"It's a good start for us, but our next goal is the NCAA tournament," said senior Zuzana Cerna. Cerna with senior teammates Iva Mihaylova and Klara Zrustova were honored after the Bears claimed with the doubles point with wins on all three courts.

"They did a great job. My time with them has been short but I'm really glad I got this opportunity to coach them," said assistant coach Dawna Prevette.

With the emotions riding high and momentum flowing from doubles, Baylor came out and dominated all six singles courts ultimately winning nine out the twelve sets 6-0, including four Bears who defeated their Cyclone opponents in 6-0, 6-0 sets.

Junior No. 18 Zuzana Zemenova started the singles landslide on court one defeating Jill Palen 6-0, 6-0 and moments later Jana Bielikova followed suit with her 6-0, 6-0 victory over Chrissy Derouin on court six.

In the match's clincher, No. 43 Cerna cleaned up on court two handing Kara Hickey another 6-0, 6-0 Iowa State loss.

No. 89 Lenka Broosova tacked on another BU point after sweeping Caitlin Loprinzi on court three, 6-0, 6-0. Zrustova and Mihaylova finished off their competition on courts four and five to give Baylor a clean 7-0 blow out.

The Bears travel to Kansas City, Mo., for the Big 12 Championship tournament April 26-30 looking to claim back-to-back tournament titles. Baylor defeated Texas last year in the final round to capture the championship.
