Baylor head coach Steve Smith
On Jeff Mandel's performance:
"He competed well, and we turned a couple of double plays early in the ball game. He dodged some bullets. They hit some line drives at us. Booker made some good plays out in left field on balls that were well hit. That's the way the game of baseball is sometimes. Nebraska goes home with a loss tonight, and they were staring a shutout in the face into the ninth inning."
On the offensive production:
"This game was a great illustration of how far we've come. At the beginning of the year we were wondering how we were going to handle with left-handed pitching, and we really struggled with it early. Tonight was anything but a struggle. The guys swung the bats extremely well. We got a bunch of two-strike hits - four or five early in the game that were RBIs or kept things going. It was a pretty good offensive night."
On getting a win at Nebraska:
"We only have about three or four guys who have ever been here before. (Chase) Gerdes is one of them, and he's having just a stellar career against Nebraska. Matt Czimskey for the last three or four weeks has just been on a tear. All of those things have really picked us up."
