Athens, Ga. - Junior Zuzana Zemenova saw her run in the NCAA Singles Championships at the Dan McGill Tennis Campus at the University of Georgia come to an end today with a loss in the semifinals.
Zemenova, ranked No. 18 and the 2005 NCAA singles champion, was eliminated the tournament's top-seeded and nation's top-ranked player, Audra Cohen of Miami. Cohen, a junior, raised her season record to 41-2 with her 6-2, 6-2 victory over Zemenova.
Zemenova finished an outstanding season with a singles record of 26-8, including a 12-6 record versus ranked opponents.
"Obviously, this was a tough loss for ZZ today, but you have to give Cohen credit for playing a great match. ZZ is going to learn from this loss and make the necessary improvements to compete for this championship next year," said head coach Joey Scrivano.
