INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee has selected the Baylor men's golf team to participate in the 2007 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships. Baylor, the 19th-seeded team in the 27-team region, makes its 10th straight regional appearance.
Three regional tournaments, encompassing the current nine sub-regions, will be conducted May 17-19. A total of 27 teams and six individuals not on selected teams were assigned to each regional site. Ten teams and two individuals not on advancing teams will move on from each regional to the championship finals.
Baylor was selected to the Central Region, hosted by Northern Illinois at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. The region features ten automatic qualifiers due to conference championships, including Big 12 Champion Oklahoma State.
"We are really excited about the opportunity to play in the Central Region," said head coach Greg Priest. "We are looking forward to continuing our season. Rich Harvest Farms is a very good, challenging golf course, and should really even out the field."
Baylor, along with OSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, and Oklahoma will each represent the Big 12 in the Central Region.
The championships will be conducted May 30-June 2 at the Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Virginia. Virginia Commonwealth University is the host institution for this year's championships.
