CAPE COD, Mass. -- Baylor baseball rising senior relief pitcher Nick Cassavechia will represent the East Team in the 2007 Cape Cod League All-Star Game, the league announced Monday. The game will be played July 28 at 5 p.m. CDT at Spillane Field in Wareham, Mass. Cassavechia is the seventh Baylor players to earn summer league all-star game honors this summer.

A member of the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox, Cassavechia leads all Cape Cod pitchers with nine saves this season through games of July 22. A product of St. Mark's High School in Dallas, Texas, Cassavechia is 1-1 this summer with a 0.92 ERA; he has allowed just 15 hits and two walks with 21 strikeouts in 19.2 innings over 13 appearances.

Four Bears participated in the Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game earlier this month: right-handed pitcher Wade Mackey (Mineral Wells), designated hitter Drew Bias (Wichita Falls), right-handed pitcher Tim Matthews (Coppell) and catcher Tim Hartland (Colleyville).

Mackey earned the victory in the TCL All-Star Game, recording one strikeout in 1.0 inning of scoreless relief. A two-time TCL all-star, Mackey also earned TCL Pitcher of the Week honors that week; he scattered four hits and struck out 12 with no walks over 7.0 innings, allowing one run, in a victory over Coppell.

Right-handed pitcher Craig Fritsch and second baseman Shaver Hansen represented the Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods League All-Star Game earlier this month.
