ABILENE, Texas - Colton Williams fired a final round 66 to win the 2007 West Texas Amateur on Sunday at the Abilene Country Club. Williams finished at 17-under par for the tournament, edging Jeremy Alcorn and Anthony Broussard by a stroke.
Trailing by two shots entering the final round, Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) seized a one stroke lead on the back nine and carried it all the way to the pivotal 18th hole. With Alcorn (Brownwood, Texas) and Broussard in with pars, Williams was left with a six footer to win. He confidently sank the putt for an impressive final round 66 and his first TGA championship.
Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) carded the low round on Sunday, shooting 65 to vault into fifth place overall. Weldon Martin (Houston, Texas) tied for eighth overall at 10-under par. Jeff Gerlich (Austin, Texas) finished in a tie for 37th at 1-under par.
Two incoming freshmen also made good showings at the tournament. Neal Robinson (Dallas, Texas) placed 51st at 4-over par, while Michael McKinley (Dallas, Texas) tied for 56th at 6-over par.
