ACO, Texas --- Baylor softball has added one player to its incoming recruiting class for the 2007-08 school year as right-handed pitcher Shaina Brock has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Bears, head coach Glenn Moore announced.
Brock, a native of Derby, Kan., earned Class 6A, first-team all-state honors last season while leading Derby High School to a regional title and onto the state championship game. The incoming freshman currently plays club softball for the Wichita Mustangs.
"She is a hard throwing, right-hander with a strong competitive drive. I am excited about the stability and security she will bring to an already strong pitching staff," head coach Glenn Moore said. "Shaina is equally as strong in the classroom and will be a great asset to Baylor and our softball program."
The incoming freshman, one of the most highly sought-after unsigned pitchers heading into the upcoming year, chose Baylor over Fresno State, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
Brock joins a signing class of Katlyn Freeland (Tucson, Ariz.), Taylor Marcum (Purcell, Okla.), Colby Vanham (Uvalde, Texas), Jordan Vannatta (West, Texas) and Meagan Weldon (Splendora, Texas) for the 2007-08 school year.
Last season, Baylor captured its first Big 12 Conference title while advancing to the Women's College World Series for the first time in school history.
