WACO, Texas -- Baylor's football team went through what head coach Guy Morriss called a "light practice" Thursday afternoon as preparations continue for the 2007 season opener Saturday at 22nd-ranked TCU. The Bears donned shoulder pads and shorts for the 70-minute session.

"It was a quick-paced practice," Morriss said. "[Wednesday] was probably our best practice as a whole. It was good to see them come out and carry that over to today."

Baylor will go through another light workout Friday afternoon before departing for Fort Worth. The Bears will have a walk-through at TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium upon arrival.

Morriss said the team is ready to get the season underway.

"Everybody out here is ready for a game - just go out and play, see where we are," Morriss said. "We want to play hard and fast and let the chips fall where they may."

Morriss also said no decision has been made on the starting quarterback for Saturday's season opener. Both sophomore Blake Szymanski and redshirt freshman Tyler Beatty took snaps in Thursday's practice.

"We're going to watch film right now," Morriss said after practice. "They've both been pretty sharp - going through their reads and finding the open man. They're both trying to be better leaders in the huddle, and that's something we've talked about. They're still not where we want them to be, but they're getting there."

Kickoff for Saturday's season opener is scheduled for 5 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised nationally on CSTV.
