Baylor returns to Waco to open its Big 12 slate as the Bears play host to Iowa State on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears are riding a three-match winning streak as Baylor claimed the SMU/Radisson Invitational tournament title last weekend. Baylor defeated Sam Houston State 3-1 on Friday night to open the tournament. The Bears then swept Mississippi 3-0, handing Ole Miss its first loss of the season. Baylor closed out the tournament with a 3-1 win over the host Mustangs on Saturday night.
Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) was named the tournament's most valuable player after recording 49 kills (4.45 kpg) and just 10 hitting errors in 122 total attacks. She also recorded 42 digs (3.82 dpg) and five blocks.
Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) and Taylor Barnes (Arlington, Texas) were also named to the all-tournament team. Breyfogle tallied 23 kills and a .362 hitting percentage, and added 10 total blocks (two solo) in just two matches on the weekend. Barnes had 19 kills and led the team with a .366 hitting percentage. She recorded 12.45 assists per game and tallied a team-leading 11 service aces, including a season-high seven against Sam Houston State. Against SMU, Barnes nearly recorded her third-career triple-double as she tallied nine kills, 14 digs and 43 assists.
The Cyclones enter the match with a 6-4 record, but are riding a five-match winning streak. Last weekend, Iowa State won the Hampton Inn State of Iowa Collegiate Volleyball Challenge by defeating LSU, Iowa and Drake.
