WACO, Texas - Lenka Broosova and junior Jana Bielikova square off in the women's tennis championship match on Sunday at the Baylor Tennis Complex.
Broosova reached the championship by defeating teammate Karolina Filipiak (6-1, 6-1) in the quarterfinals before besting Adriana Sloarova of South Alabama (6-0,6-0).
Bielikova was also forced to face a teammate in the quarterfinals, squaring off with freshman Taylor Ormond. Bielikova passed Ormond in straight sets, but not without a fight, winning 7-6, 7-6. She then earned a free pass to the championship match as top-seeded Zuzana Zemenova withdrew from the tournament due to an injury.
"We are excited to have an all Baylor singles final again this year," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "Lenka and Jana are playing really well and it should be a great match."
Despite being knocked out of their singles bracket, Filipiak and Ormond have teamed up in the double competition and will compete for a title in the doubles final on Sunday. Filipiak and Ormond will face Christine Johnston and Alaina Trgorich of Kentucky.
The doubles championship match is set to begin at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday and will be followed by the singles championships at 9:30 a.m. at the Baylor Tennis Complex.
