PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - The Baylor doubles team of Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi won two matches on Wednesday to advance out of the Qualifying Draw at the ITA/Riviera All-American Tournament. The pair will now compete in the Main Draw starting on Thursday.
"We did a better job of doing the right things at the right times today," said head coach Joey Scrivano. "Lenks and Csilla are an up and coming doubles team with a bright future."
The pair opened the day with an 8-6 win over Samantha Murray and Keri Robison of Northwestern. The duo then took down Kentucky's Carolina Escamilla and Christine Johnston 8-2 to advance to the Main Draw tournament. On Thursday, Baylor will face top-ranked Tinesta Rowe and Melanie Gloria of Fresno State.
In addition, Taylor Ormond won her second consolation match, defeating Kirsten Flower of Ohio State 6-4, 6-4. Ormond will face Murray of Northwestern on Thursday morning.
"Taylor got back to playing fundamentally sound tennis again," said Scrivano. "I am really proud of the way she refocused after a tough day yesterday and beat a quality opponent in the process."
Broosova begins action in the Main Draw singles on Thursday as well, facing Chelsey Gullickson of Georgia.
