LUBBOCK, Texas -
Baylor held a 1-0 lead until the 89th minute when Texas Tech's Katie Hinds scored to tie the game, and the sophomore scored again in the 101st minute to give the Red Raiders a 2-1 double overtime victory. The loss drops the Bears to 5-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Big 12, while Texas Tech moves to 7-5-1 overall and 2-4 in conference.
For the second-straight game, Bethany Johnston got the Bears on the scoreboard first. In the eighth minute, Johnston scored her second goal of the season as she received a cross from Lindsey Johnson and buried the shot from the left side of the box to make it 1-0.
Behind solid defense and four saves by Gianna Quintana, the Bears kept the 1-0 lead heading into the break, as the Red Raiders outshot Baylor 10-7 in the opening half.
The Baylor defense held strong in the second half, despite facing 16 shots. Redshirt freshman Courtney Seelhorst came up with seven saves to maintain the lead until the 89th minute.
With under two minutes left in the game the Red Raiders evened the game at one, as Hinds received a cross from Lauren Yelinek and headed it in the back of the net, forcing overtime.
Each team took just one shot in the first overtime, leading to the second overtime. Just over a minute in to the second OT, Hinds recorded her second goal, heading in a corner taken by Taylor Lytle.
The Red Raiders held the edge in shots, 28-13, with the Baylor goalkeepers combining for 11 saves on the night.
Baylor will look to bounce back as it travels to No. 22 Colorado on Sunday for a 2 p.m. CT game against the Buffaloes in Boulder, Colo.
