Final Stats

A goal in the 20th minute by Oklahoma's Whitney Palmer guided the Sooners to a 1-0 victory over Baylor on senior day on Sunday afternoon at Betty Lou Mays Field. With the loss, the Bears drop to 5-9-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the Big 12, while Oklahoma improves to 2-13-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the conference.

Sunday's game was the final home game for four Baylor seniors, as Carolyn Lynch, Andi Fagan, Elena Sutherland and Amanda McGrath were honored before the game.

"We battled really hard today, but we just made a mistake that allowed them a goal," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We had some chances, but it just didn't go our way."

The Bears thought they had taken a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when Christine Clark knocked the ball in the back of the net, but was whistled for an offside call, negating the goal.

Oklahoma answered in the 20th minute, as a missed pass ended up at the feet of Palmer, allowing her a breakaway opportunity that she slipped past Baylor's Gianna Quintana for a 1-0 lead.

With the Sooners still holding a 1-0 lead, Baylor nearly answered in the 88th minute as Betsy Kyle cracked a volley that hit the crossbar and came down, nearly crossing the goal line and bouncing back into the field of play.

The Bears had another opportunity in the 89th minute as the ball bounced in front of the goal, and Lotto Smith slid hit the ball near the goal line, but it was cleared off by an Oklahoma defender.

Baylor will play its final three regular season games away from Betty Lou Mays, as the Bears will hit the road for a pair of road games against Missouri on Friday, Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. and Kansas on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
