What are the team goals and expectations for this year?
"We have done really well so far and I know we have better things in store for us. We have a really strong team and a lot of depth this season...Our goal is conference championship and at nationals top 10."
What made you want to be a runner?
"My mom was always a runner. When I was younger, I did little races here and there. I started track in seventh grade. I didn't really enjoy it. My tenth grade year is when I started to have a passion for it."
How do you prepare for a day of competition?
"I just make sure I am getting a lot of good carbohydrates. Just making sure I am recovering, getting a lot of sleep. Then mentally just remaining confident in myself. Also, just giving the race to the Lord, that is the most important thing before I go into a race. "
What is the most fun part of being a division 1 athlete?
"I love the intense training and the great competition. And then having all the services for us. That has been a lot of fun."
What has been your career highlight so far?
"I would say starting the steeple chase last year, and never doing it. And then the first time running it, setting a school record."
What is some advice you would give younger runners?
"Just have fun with it. Don't take anything to seriously. It's really easy to take it seriously, but just have fun. "
