Complete Turtle Bay Results in PDF Format 
KAHUKU, O`ahu, Hawai`i - The Baylor men's golf team shot a final-round 2-under 286 to finish 11th overall at the 8th annual Turtle Bay Intercollegiate Wednesday.
The Bears concluded the three-day tournament at 3-over 867, finishing one shot shy of a potential four-way tie for eighth place with Oregon State, Pepperdine and Hawai`i at 2-over 866. Big 12 rival Texas won the Turtle Bay by three strokes, finishing 21 shots under par. San Diego State came in second at 18-under, followed by UNLV and UT Arlington at 14-under in third and Ohio State in fifth at 12-under.
"We are disappointed in the way we played this week," Baylor head coach Greg Priest said. "There were some good teams here and we expected to finish high, certainly not 11th overall.
"When you come here to play at Turtle Bay, it's a wide-open course. It brings everyone into play so you better be ready," Priest said. "I don't think we were quite ready to play and that has to be something we address heading into the spring."
Freshman Joakim Mikkelsen (Drammen, Norway) entered Wednesday tied for third overall, but fell off his solid pace from Tuesday, shooting a 1-over 73 in the final round. Mikkelsen finished in a four-way tie for 10th at 5-under 211 to post his second consecutive top 10 finish. Sophomore Cody Paladino (Kensington, Conn.) bounced back from a rough second round, shooting a 3-under 69 Wednesday to finish 25th overall at 2-under 214.
After opening Turtle Bay with rounds of 75 and 77, Senior Bill Allcorn (Abilene, Texas) shot a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish at 6-over (tied for 60th overall). Junior Colton Williams (Jacksboro, Texas) and redshirt freshman Lorenzo Scotto (Pordenone, Italy) finished tied for 66th at 7-over 223.
"We are definitely disappointed in how we finished the fall season," Priest said. "We played well all fall, but it didn't end the way we wanted. There are a lot of positives to take from the fall.
"Now we see we aren't as good as we thought we were. We have to keep working hard and get ready for the spring."
With the conclusion of the Bears' fall schedule, the Baylor men's golf team will return to the link Feb. 23-24, 2009, when it participates in the Rio Pinar Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
