Senior Jordan Daniels continued her hot start to the season as she helped lead the No. 7 Baylor Lady Bears (3-1 overall) to victories over Syracuse (6-1) and Centenary (4-2) on Sunday in the final day of the Getterman Classic.

Daniels finished the day going 5-for-7 with two home runs and two RBI.

The Lady Bears fell behind in game one after Syracuse scored in the bottom half of the first inning. After Ev Anderson led off with a single, Jamie Kelling moved her over with a ground out to third, but a Daniels throw to second ended up in left field and Anderson came around to score to give the Orange a 1-0 lead.

Baylor answered in the top of the third as Nicole Wesley led off the inning with a single and stole second to get into scoring position. A Tiffany Wesley single advanced N. Wesley to third and she scored on a sacrifice fly by Brette Reagan to tie the game at one apiece.

In the fourth, Daniels led off with a single and made a heads-up play to advance to second while Syracuse was throwing the ball back to the pitcher. She advanced to third when Meagan Weldon reached on an error and was brought around to score on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Marcum to give Baylor the 2-1 lead.

The Lady Bears broke the game open in the fifth as Kirsten Shortridge led off the inning with a single and stole second before a T. Wesley base hit put her at third. With runners at second and third, Reagan doubled to right center to score the pair of runs. Morgan Craig came in to pinch run and immediately stole third, which allowed her to score when Courtney Oberg reached on an error and made the advantage 5-1.

Baylor scored its final run in the top of the seventh as Daniels homered down the right field line for her second home run in as many games to give the Lady Bears their final margin of 6-1.

Shortridge picked up her first win of the season after working seven innings, giving up no earned runs and striking out four.

In game two, Baylor jumped ahead with three runs in the bottom of the second as Colby Vanham hit a one-out double and advanced to third after Maritza Martinez singled and stole second trying to get Vanham across the plate. N. Wesley took care of that on the next at-bat with an RBI single that scored Vanham and moved Martinez to third. With two outs and two on, T. Wesley brought both her sister and Martinez around to score to give the Lady Bears a 3-0 advantage.

Baylor scored its final run when Daniels blasted her third home run of the tournament over the right field wall to give the Lady Bears a 4-0 cushion.

Jenny Isham kept the Ladies' bats quiet as the junior threw five innings of scoreless work, giving up five hits and striking out two to pick up her second win of the year.

Centenary would not go away as Lauren Flowers knocked a two-run homer to right center off Shaina Brock, who came in to relieve Isham. But Brock settled down and struck out three of the next four batters to limit the damage.

After a scoreless sixth for the Lady Bears, Brock shut the door on Centenary to give Baylor the 4-2 victory.

Baylor will remain at home to take on Prairie View A&M in a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.
