The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its latest rankings Tuesday with the Baylor women's tennis team earning its highest national ranking in program history. The now-fourth-ranked Bears will sport their new ranking when they take to the courts at 3:30 p.m. (CST) to face No. 11 UCLA in Los Angeles.

Baylor (8-1) is currently on a six-match win streak which includes wins over six nationally ranked programs. The streak began on Feb. 8 with a 4-0 victory over then-No. 75 Wisconsin. Since then the Bears have strung together consecutive victories over No. 19 Notre Dame, No. 7 Miami (Fla.), No. 33 TCU, No. 16 William & Mary and No. 17 Pepperdine.

Currently the Bears are 7-1 against nationally ranked opponents with their lone loss coming at the ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championship in Madison, Wis., against then-No. 1 Stanford.

Baylor opened the 2008 spring season at No. 13 in the ITA rankings before climbing to No. 11 (Feb. 5), No. 10 (Feb. 12), No. 8 (Feb. 20) and now No. 4.

Prior to the latest rankings, Baylor highest billing came during the 2006 season when the Bears were ranked No. 5 nationally for four consecutive weeks.

The Bears are set to face No. 11 UCLA Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. (CST) before returning home for matches against No. 15 Fresno State (Feb. 29) and No. 19 Wake Forest (March 2). Baylor will begin its Big 12 title defense on March 7 as they travel to Ames, Iowa, to take on Iowa State.
