Men's Tennis Gets Back on Winning Track

RICHMOND, Va. - Baylor's ninth-ranked men's tennis team got back on the winning track while dealing the 21st-ranked Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Rams their third loss of the season with a 5-1 road victory. Baylor took the doubles point with wins at courts one and three. On court one, Attila Bucko and Lars Poerschke, playing together for just the third time this season, pounded out a 9-7 upset win over 24th-ranked Emil Lindgren/Sebastian Ripoll. Poerschke, who injured his ankle in Baylor's loss to No. 2 Ohio State last week, played doubles only for the Bears. "Lars couldn't move side to side at all but he served pretty well and hit two good returns the game we broke," said head coach Matt Knoll. "Attila served well also, it was a very courageous effort." Dominik Mueller and Denes Lukacs won their second straight match as a tandem when they downed Bobo Delemark and Stepan Siska 8-4.

In singles, Lukacs, Galic, Mueller and Rux all posted victories. Mueller's match was the only one of the day to go three sets when he triumphed over Thibaut Charron at No. 4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. No. 12 Lukacs, playing, at No. 1, downed Schulhauser, No. 57 Galic defeated Damien Lacombe and Rux beat Stepan Siska to complete Baylor's scoring.

Next up for the Bears will be a three-match road swing to southern California when they take on No. 7 USC (March 9), No. 6 UCLA (March 10) and No. 22 Pepperdine (March 12).
