Men's Golf Set for Big 12 Championships

The 65th-ranked Baylor men's golf team seeks its second conference title as it competes in the 2008 Big 12 Men's Golf Championship Friday through Sunday, April 25-27, at the 7,249-yard, par-72 Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
Single rounds will be played on each day, with tee times and pairings on the second and third days determined by standings. The Bears, seeded fifth of the 12 teams, will start from the 10th tee at 8:00 a.m. in the first round. Second round tee times are at 9 a.m. and 9:50 a.m., while final round tee times on Sunday are set for 8 a.m. and 8:50 a.m.
The Bears won the 2001 championship and Worth Williams claimed the individual victory at the tournament marking Baylor's lone conference title. Last year, Baylor finished eighth after a seventh-place showing in 2006.
Wes Williams, the 13th-rated player in the Big 12, leads Baylor with a 73.04 stroke average. Williams has earned five top-ten finishes, with a season-high finish at the SFA Bill Hill-Crown Classic when he tied for third. Jeremy Alcorn has recorded four top-ten finishes, with his high finish of the season of third at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate. Jeremy Frye leads the Bears with nine tournament appearances this season.
Following the Big 12 Championships, the team will await the announcement of the NCAA Regional fields. Baylor has been selected to 10-straight NCAA Regional Tournaments. The NCAA Regionals will be held May 15-17 in
