When did you start playing your sport?

When I was about 10, but I played baseball before that.

Who has had the greatest impact on your career?

My dad, I used to always follow him out on the field.

What is the best part of being a college athlete?

Everything, we get to travel and see new places.

Favorite sport other than your own?

I love basketball.

What is your nickname on the team and why?

Mari, just because they can't say Maritza.

After meeting Coach Moore, what was you first thought?

He reminded me a lot of my dad the way he coached, and his background was similar to my dad.

If you could play a different position, what would it be?

Either second base or center field, I like the middle.

Do you have a pre-game ritual, if so what is it?

I put on my wristbands the same way everyday, and every game.

What is the most unique item in your locker?

I have Derek Jeter doing his backhand play while he is in the air - I love that play.

What is the funniest moment from Baylor practice?

One time our second baseman, Alex Colyer, fell down over her cleats.

Who are your favorite sports heroes?

Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan, and Allen Iverson.

What is the highlight of your sports career?

One time at practice, I got three outs by myself - I caught the ball up the middle, tagged second base and threw it to first.

What opposing schools do you most look forward to competing against?

Texas A&M and Texas.

What is your favorite team road trip?

Last year when we went to Hawaii.

Who is your biggest fan?

My parents and my little sister.

Why did you choose to attend Baylor?

I've always wanted to play in the Big 12 and this was the biggest school that gave me an offer.

What's the most important thing you've learned as a Baylor athlete?

You have to be proper and classy.

What is one thing you would change about Baylor?

I would make it a little more laid back.

As a role model to young athletes, what advice can you give?

Keep working hard and you're never too small to do anything.

What are three words that describe you?

Determined, passionate, and dedicated.

What song is stuck in your head right now?

Lil' Wayne.

What is your favorite T.V. show?

The Wayan Brothers.

Name one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you.

I used to play the violin up until 9th grade, and I used to be in gymnastics.

Name one thing you can't go a week without.

My iPod and my cellphone.

What is your dream job?

To go professional, play in the Olympics and coach at the Division I level.

What's your most valued possession?

My glove.

Favorite musical artist?

Usher.

Biggest fear?

To not accomplish my dreams.

Biggest pet-peeve?

To keep it simple and to not make things more difficult than they already are.

Least Favorite food?

Seafood! I do not like it at all.

Worst movie you've seen?

Cloverfield.

Movies or TV?

Movies.

ESPN.

Bruiser.
