Baylor completed its 2009 football schedule by signing a one-game contract with Kent State and it has also reached future agreements with both SMU and Navy, Bears' Director of Athletics Ian McCaw announced today.

Baylor and Kent State will meet for the first time on the gridiron, Oct. 3, 2009, in Waco. The Golden Flashes finished 3-9 in 2007, but one of their victories was a 23-14 season-opening upset win at Iowa State.

The Bears' other 2009 non-conference games are at Wake Forest (Sept. 5) and at home against Connecticut (Sept. 19) and Northwestern (La.) State (Sept. 26). Baylor, which will again play seven home games in 2009, will open Big 12 play Oct. 10 at Oklahoma.

Baylor and SMU begin a six-year series with a Sept. 10, 2011, contest in Dallas. Other non-conference opponents in 2011 are TCU (Sept. 3 in Waco) and Rice (Sept. 24 in Waco) which gives the Bears three games against former Southwest Conference rivals.

The Bears and Mustangs will play in Waco during the 2012 (Sept. 1), 2014 (Aug. 30) and 2016 (Sept. 16) seasons, sandwiched around games at Dallas in 2013 (Sept. 14) and 2015 (Sept. 5). SMU leads the all-time series with Baylor by a 36-35-7 count, however, the Bears have won nine straight from the Mustangs including a 28-23 victory in Dallas to open the 2005 campaign in the most-recent meeting between the programs.

To complete both its 2010 and 2011 schedules, Baylor now needs to fill one non-conference date.

The Navy series is a two-year deal starting Sept. 19, 2015, in Waco and concluding Sept. 3, 2016, in Annapolis, Md. The Bears and Midshipmen have never played in football.
