Lady Bears Win, Men Take Second at Baylor Twilight

WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's cross country team won the team title, and the men's squad took second place at the Baylor Twilight Invitational on Friday night at the Baylor Intramural Fields. Nichole Jones won the women's individual title for the second straight year.
The Lady Bears claimed the top six spots to finish with 15 team points. Nichole Jones clocked 14:03.91 to win the individual title for the second-straight season. Jones secured the first spot by six seconds over teammate Erin Bedell, who finished in 14:09.03.
Danielle Bradley finished third, while Katie Shaw, Jessi Barnes and Renae Van Wyhe finished fourth through sixth for the Lady Bears.
SMU finished second in the team standings with 57 points, while TCU took third with 85 points.
The men's team finished second overall with 52 team points following a fourth-place showing in 2007. Lamar won the team competition with 46 points. Francis Kasagule of Lamar won the individual competition.
Jeff Sadler was the top finisher for Baylor, placing fifth overall with a time of 19:12.25. Baylor placed six runners in the Top 15 overall, as Michael Williams finished in ninth place overall. John Wenhold finished in 11th place and freshman Brandon Reed took 13th overall. Robbie Knorr and Brandon White finished 14th and 15th, respectively.
Baylor returns to action on Sept. 13 as both squads travel to College Station, Texas to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational.
