The Baylor soccer team (2-2-0) scored early and often as the Bears cruised to a 10-1 victory over the Prairie View A&M Lady Panthers (0-5-0) on Sunday at Betty Lou Mays Field.

The 10 goals scored were the most by Baylor since an 11-0 home win over McNeese State on Oct. 5, 1996.

Senior Andi Fagan, junior Beckah Brady and freshman Allie Moran each recorded a pair of goals for the Bears, while junior Betsy Kyle, sophomore Lotto Smith and freshmen Christine Clark and Hannah Dismuke each found the net for the first time in 2008.

"We played our game today and did a great job of staying in the game," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We wanted to stay disciplined and continue developing good habits."

Baylor got on the board in the third minute as freshman Christine Clark followed up a rebound after a shot by Andi Fagan to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.

The Bears struck again four minutes later with Lotto Smith following up on a shot by Clark, sticking it in the back of the net for her first goal of the season and a 2-0 lead.

The next two goals would come off the foot of Fagan, who is off to a hot start in 2008 with four goals in the last two games. The Walnut, Calif., native, registered her first one of the day off an assist from Smith, while the second came off a great pass by Clark from the end line that Fagan cleaned up nicely for the score.

The final goal of the half came in the 41st minute as Allie Moran notched the first goal of her career off an assist from Wallis Young and Jonie Canfield.

The Bears outshot the Lady Panthers 23-0 in the opening stanza, as Prairie View A&M goalkeeper Jessica Garcia was forced to make six saves in the first 45 minutes.

Baylor continued to be aggressive in the second half, scoring just 23 seconds in on a goal by Betsy Kyle that was assisted by Fagan.

The Lady Panthers ended the Bears hope for a second consecutive shutout in the 58th minute when Brenda Castillo sent a corner into the center of the box that found the head of a leaping Angelica Diaz on Prairie View's only shot of the game.

Beckah Brady answered back 10 minutes later off an assist by Katie White in the 68th minute, while Hannah Dismuke found her first goal of the season in the 69th minute after Young found her with the pass for an assist.

Moran and Brady wrapped up the scoring for Baylor, as each recorded their second goal of the game with scores in the 75th and 77th minutes, respectively.

The Bears finished the game with 38 shots, compared to just one for the Lady Panthers. It was the most shots taken by a Baylor team since registering 37 against Oklahoma on Oct. 19, 2003. The school record for shots is 40, which occurred on Sept. 14, 1997 versus Kansas.

Baylor will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 12 as the Bears host Arizona State at 7 p.m. It will be Family Fun Night at Betty Lou Mays Field, as fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for just $20. In addition, the first 150 fans will receive a free t-shirt at the entrance.
