LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Lenka Broosova won her final singles match of the weekend on the last day of competition at the Freeman Memorial Tournament hosted by UNLV.
Broosova defeated Oregon's No. 107 Carmen Seremeta in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. No. 19 Taylor Ormond split her first two sets with Renata Kucerkova of Fresno State, 6-2, 1-6, and No. 32 Csilla Borsanyi split two sets with Arizona State's third-ranked McKenna, 7-6, 2-5, before the Lady Bears had to depart the facility for their flight departing Las Vegas.
In doubles competition, third-ranked Broosova and Borsanyi fell to Fresno State's No. 23 Tinesta Rowe and Melanie Gloria 9-8 (5), while Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk fell to Arizona State's Ashlee Brown and Sianna Simmons, 8-4.
"These events this weekend were an excellent opportunity for our team to get some tough competitive matches before the dual match season begins," said head coach Joey Scrivano. "We have some things we need to work on before our home opener. I think the ladies are very excited to play Princeton in our homer on Jan 31."
At the National Collegiate Tennis Classic, Karolina Filipiak fell to Kristen Flower of Ohio State, 2-6, 2-6. Zuzana Chmelarova downed Dockendorf of UCLA 6-2, def., before falling to USC's No. 67 Gabriela Niculescu, 2-6, 2-6.
In doubles action, Kasia Siwosz and Nina Secerbegovic fell to Georgia Tech's Noelle Hickey and Christy Striplin, 8-4.
Baylor opens the dual match season hosting the National Indoor Team Qualifier. The Bears will play Princeton on Jan. 31 in the opening round, with the winner facing Iowa or Virginia Tech.
