WACO - The Missouri Tigers (9-4-3, 4-0-2) used four goals in the first 26 minutes to defeat Baylor (6-4-4, 2-3-2) 5-0 Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field. The loss snaps the Bears' three-game unbeaten streak.
"We played what I think is the best team in the Big 12," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We didn't come out strong, and you can't do that against a team like Missouri. I think we learned a lot from this and we will use it to bounce back against Kansas."
Missouri got on the board in the third minute, as Jessie Crabtree knocked in a cross from Bree Thornton for a 1-0 lead.
Crabtree struck again in the 14th minute, this time heading a loose ball into the net for a quick 2-0 advantage.
The Tigers put away another in the 23rd minute, with Kari Adam knocking in a rebounded shot from Alysha Bonnick to go ahead 3-0.
In the 26h minute, MU struck a fourth time, as Kelsey Blincow redirected a header into the goal for a 4-0 lead.
Baylor managed just one shot in the opening half.
Missouri's final goal came off the foot of Kristin Andrighetto, who fired a shot in that bounced in front of goalkeeper Gianna Quintana and squirted in.
The Bears showed fight in the final half, recording four shots. Allie Moran and Lindsey Johnson each recorded a pair of shots for BU on the night.
Baylor will host Kansas on Sunday 1:00 p.m. for Senior Day, as the Bears will honor their seven seniors following the game. Sunday is also Dollar Hot Dog Day, and there will be an autograph signing immediately following the Senior Day festivities.
