Main Draw Singles Bracket 
WACO, Texas - Baylor's women's tennis team recorded five first-round singles victories in the main draw of the Wilson/ITA Texas Regional at the Waco Regional Tennis Center on Saturday.
Top-seeded Lenka Broosova and eighth-seeded Nina Secerbegovic each recorded dominating straight set victories in their first action of the tournament Broosova took down Texas' Carlene Layded 6-1, 6-1, while Secerbegovic dropped Monika Hadvigerova of Texas-Arlington.
Fourth-seeded Taylor Ormond was equally as dominant with a 6-1, 6-1 win over TCU's Katariina Tuohimaa. Karolina Filipiak was Baylor's other straight sets winner, taking a 6-3, 7-5(5) upset win over ninth-seeded Maggie Mello of Texas.
"I like the way we dominated in some of the matches today but I was especially pleased to see Karolina competing at such a high level," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "She might be our most improved player this fall and it's exciting to see the way she is developing."
Sixth-seeded Csilla Borsanyi battled back after a 6-0 set-one loss to win the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6(4), and then dominate the third set 6-0 for the win over Shahazoda Hatamova of SMU.
Carla Lindlar took SMU's Sophie Quist to the brink of both sets, but lost both, 7-5, 7-6(4), recording Baylor's only singles loss of the day.
In the first round of doubles action, Broosova and Borsanyi teamed up for a dominating 8-0 win over Carolina Deluca and Marina Deluca of UTEP. Also in doubles, two Baylor duos suffered first-round losses with Secerbegovic and Lindlar losing 8-5 to Bianca Discordia and Leanne Mascall of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Ormond and Filipiak dropped their doubles match 8-4 to Federica Denti and Giorgia Pozzan of Sam Houston State
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow with doubles beginning at 10 a.m. and singles beginning at 12:30 p.m., continuing the Wilson/ITA Texas Regional at the Waco Regional Tennis Center. The tournament runs through Tuesday, Oct. 20.
