After a 24-10 road loss to Iowa State, the Baylor football team now turns its attention to Oklahoma State. The Bears will host the Cowboys in a homecoming matchup beginning at 11:30 a.m. and televised nationally on VERSUS.
Here are Art Briles' Sunday thoughts on the Bears' loss to Iowa State as well as Saturday's upcoming game against Oklahoma State.
Thoughts after reviewing the game film...
"Frustrating last night would be the best description. After watching the tape we certainly had opportunities early in the game but we didn't capitalize. Offensively and defensively we let them control the ball. That is stuff that we are going to improve on. We have to keep working. When the milk is spilled you clean it up and move on, so that is what we are going to do."
On the importance of playing the next two games at home...
"It definitely helps being at home. What we have to do is take advantage of being at home. That is the important part right there. We just have to keep searching for consistent production offensively and get people off of the field on defense."
On the play of Blake Szymanski...
"There were a lot of factors that contributed to us not being productive. He came out and played like we wanted him to play early in the game. We wanted him to be precise, execute and make some plays with his feet. I thought he competed hard and that is what we ask of our players."
On the injuries playing a role with the team's struggles...
"I think that is a factor. The other thing is that we feel like we are starting over each week. We are just having a difficult time finding a rhythm and that is very important in football. You have to have a little consistent confidence in what you are doing and what you are going to get out of what you are doing....People have a chance to rise. That is the great thing about it. The book is not shut. There are some chapters left to read. We are expecting some great things to finish out."
On the outlook for the rest of the season...
"I am frustrated and I feel responsible. That's the thing. We have a job to do and we have six more weeks to do it. We have to make this thing work, and that's what we are going to do."
