Box Score
LUBBOCK, Texas - A penalty kick goal by Texas Tech's Taylor Lytle in the 43rd minute led the Red Raiders (7-4-1, 2-0-1) to a 1-0 win over Baylor (4-3-3, 0-2-1) Friday night in Lubbock. All three losses for the Bears this season have been by one goal.
Goalkeeper Gianna Quintana made a season-high eight saves, while Lotto Smith, Lindsey Johnson and Chelsea Geller each registered three shots apiece.
Despite five saves from Quintana, the Red Raiders scored in the 43rd minute, as Lytle was fouled in the box and converted her penalty kick for a 1-0 lead.
Baylor picked up play in the second half, and nearly scored in the 62nd minute on a free kick from Geller, only to see Colleen Pitts make a great save.
Pitts came up with two more big saves in the game's final five minutes, as Smith and Johnson both had their shots stopped.
The Bears will return home for a 1:00 p.m. match against Colorado on Sunday. It will be Kids Free Sunday, with children 12 and under receiving free admission. In addition, all hot dogs will be $1.
