Coming off its first conference road win since 2006, Art Briles and the Baylor football team now return to the friendly confines of Floyd Casey Stadium as they host the Texas Longhorns Saturday morning. The Big 12 South matchup will be televised nationally on FOX Sports Southwest beginning at 11 a.m. CT.
Here are Briles' thoughts on Baylor's 40-32 win over Missouri on Saturday:
On the win...
"It was a gratifying win from the aspect of our guys fighting hard, believing and really playing just good sound football for 60 minutes. That part was very gratifying. We are happy for our program and happy for the University without a doubt. The thing we have to do now is move on. We have to get ready to play Texas this weekend and get after them. That is where we are at right now; the (Missouri game) is behind us."
On the play of Nick Florence...
"I think he has been doing what he has been doing (all season). I think he played with a lot of poise, a lot of confidence and a lot of belief. Nick is a guy where it is not about him. He is about doing whatever he can do to help the team win. He is involved in the football game. That part I really appreciate. He is a great teammate and the other guys recognize that."
On the production of Kendall Wright...
"The thing that has really helped Kendall the last couple of weeks is that he has just practiced so much better. I really think that is where the difference is showing up on Saturday's. Kendall is really mature and he is learning how to be a good teammate and he is taking on some leadership. I think all of that equates into him being productive on Saturday and he certainly was yesterday without a doubt."
On the offensive production...
"If you knock on a door enough someone is finally going to open it. We've been knocking on the door. As strange as it sounds we really felt like we moved the ball well against Nebraska the week before. We just came away without the production and the points that you need to have for moving the ball that well. We feel good about our people, we feel good about our schemes. Now we just finally equated all of that to production on the field where that is the final thing that you look at anyway. It is just nice to see a bunch of people make plays for us on both sides of the ball and special teams. It was a really good team win."
On the defensive effort in the second-half...
"We brought a few more people in the second half. I think our conditioning and strength kind of showed up a little bit in the later quarters. I think that helped. We came into to the game wanting to play at a fast pace because it was a warm afternoon and we felt that part was to our advantage so we tried to start real fast, play real fast and that started to show up later in the game. It is hard for either to team to maintain a pace like that but if you go into it with the mentality of that is how you are going to do it then you are prepared."
On Terrance Williams returning kickoffs...
"I think he is an intelligent returner first and foremost. He does a good job of protecting the ball and protecting himself and getting the ball in his hands and going. He is a north-and-south guy and that is the best part about him. He is very seldom going to lose any yards on a return. You are going to have a positive return when he touches the ball."
