Softball Falls To No. 1 Florida, 8-0

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Baylor softball team (0-2) managed only one hit, falling to No. 1 Florida (2-0), 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium in Gainesville, Fla. The Gators had five extra base hits, including three home runs en route to the win.
Sophomore Shaina Brock (0-1) took the loss after 1.2 innings, allowing four hits, five runs and a walk. Senior Brittany Turner threw 3.1, giving up five hits, three runs, three walks and two strikeouts.
Stephanie Brombacher earned the win for the Gators, going six innings, allowing just one hit, walking one and striking out eight.
Florida posted three in the first after a walk and single put two runners on fro Francesca Enea, who blasted a home run for a 3-0 lead.
The Gators added a pair of runs in the second with a sac fly and home run by Kim Waleszonia. Senior Brittany Turner entered the game for starter Shaina Brock and held Florida scoreless through the third and fourth innings.
Aja Paculba hit a third home run for the Gators in the fifth and Florida tacked on another run to take a 7-0 lead.
Baylor picked up its lone hit in the sixth, as freshman Kayce Walker singled through the right side with one out, and stole second to get into scoring position. Nicole Wesley's groundout sent Walker to third, but a groundout by Brette Reagan ended the Baylor threat.
Florida added its final run in the bottom half of the sixth, ending the game at 8-0.
Baylor and Florida will conclude the three-game series on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. CST. The game can be heard on ESPN 1660 AM with pre-game beginning at 10:45 a.m.
