WOMEN'S TENNIS HOSTS BIG 12 DOUBLEHEADER
The fourth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team completes its five-match homestand as the Lady Bears host a Big 12 doubleheader on Saturday, playing Iowa State at 9 a.m. before facing No. 58 Nebraska at 1 p.m. at the Baylor Tennis Center. Baylor is coming off a 6-1 win over No. 17 Kentucky on Wednesday night, its sixth win on a Top 20 team this season. LAST TIME AGAINST IOWA STATE, NEBRASKA
The fourth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team opened Big 12 Conference action with a 6-1 win against Iowa State at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center. With the win, the Lady Bears improved to 12-1 on the season, 1-0 in conference play. Baylor opened up by winning two of three matches in doubles play to take the early 1-0 lead. The 41st-ranked team of Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk opened with an 8-1 win at number-one doubles over Erin Karonis and Chrissy Derouin. Second-ranked Lenka Broosova and Zuzana Zemenova defeated Caitlin Loprinzi and Kara Hickey 8-4 at number-two doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Lady Bears. Iowa States' Liza Wischer and Reka Kelemen downed Zuzana Chmelerova and Natalie Holmes 8-6 at number-three doubles. Three matches went to a tiebreak in the first set, but the Lady Bears won each tiebreaker to take the advantage over the Cyclones. Baylor's top five players each won their first set. The Lady Bears took a 2-0 lead as 19th-ranked Ormond defeated Hickey 6-2, 6-2 at flight two singles. No. 123 Stanivuk won at number-four singles over Derouin by scores of 7-6 and 6-0 to stretch the Baylor lead to 3-0. Broosova clinched the match for the Lady Bears as the nation's eighth-ranked player won in straight sets 7-6, 6-0 over Karonis. The win marked Broosova's 13th-straight victory and gives her a perfect 13-0 record in spring action. No. 79 Jana Bielikova defeated Loprinzi 7-6, 6-3 at number three singles, and Zuzana Chmelerova downed Wischer 6-3, 6-2 to claim the win at number-five singles. Iowa State's lone point came at flight six singles as Kelemen defeated Holmes 7-5, 6-2.
Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk held on to win at number-two doubles, and Zuzana Zemenova won a third-set tiebreaker as the fourth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team blanked No. 68 Nebraska 7-0 on Saturday at the Nebraska Tennis Center. The win moves Baylor to 13-1 on the season, 2-0 in the Big 12 Conference. Nebraska suffers its first loss of the season, dropping to 11-1 overall, 1-1 in conference play. The Lady Bears struck early in doubles play as Zuzana Chmelerova and Karolina Filipiak defeated Amber Chandronnait and Stephanie Evans 8-4 at number-three doubles. After the second-ranked team of Lenka Broosova and Zemenova dropped its match 9-7 to Jana Albers and Imke Reimers 9-7 at number-one doubles, No. 41 Ormond and Stanivuk won their sixth straight match 9-7 over Maria Ring and Wiveca Swarting to claim the doubles point. No. 123 Stanivuk got Baylor's second point with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Evans at flight four singles. Filipiak downed Chandronnait 6-3, 6-2 at number-five singles, and Chmelerova blasted Ring 6-2, 6-3 at number-six singles to secure the match for the Lady Bears. No. 19 Ormond defeated Albers 6-3, 6-3 at flight three singles and eighth-ranked Broosova won her 14th-straight match, topping Swarting 6-4, 6-3 at number-two singles. No. 25 Zemenova took an early lead 6-2 in the first set, but dropped the second set to 91st-ranked Reimers in a tiebreaker 7-6 (4). Zemenova held on to win the third set 10-8 and secure the sweep for Baylor.

The Baylor women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches and won five singles matches in straight sets as the fourth-ranked Lady Bears cruised past No. 17 Kentucky on Wednesday night at the Baylor Tennis Center. The win for Baylor (9-4) is the seventh-straight at home this season, and the 14th in a row dating back to last year. Baylor opened the match by sweeping the doubles point. No. 72 Jelena Stanivuk and Taylor Ormond made quick work of Christine Johnston and Megan Broderick, 8-1, on court two. Baylor sealed the doubles point on court three as Nina Secerbegovic and Kasia Siwosz downed Lauren Meier and Whitney Spencer, 8-6. On court one, No. 18 Lenka Broosova and Csilla Borsanyi rallied from a 6-4 deficit to defeat No. 29 Carolina Escamilla and Caroline Lilley, 8-7 (4). The Lady Bears then rattled off five straight wins in singles play. No. 35 Broosova rolled over Johnston, 6-2, 6-2, on court two, while Secerbegovic made quick work of Lilley on court five. No. 39 Stanivuk clinched the match for Baylor with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Meier on court three, while Siwosz downed Minnette Pienaar, 6-1, 6-3, on court six. No. 66 Borsanyi defeated Spencer, 6-1, 6-2, on court four before Escamilla upset no. 37 Ormond, 6-2, 6-2, on court one.
