Coach Art Briles' Baylor Bears will conclude spring practice with a controlled scrimmage on Thursday, April 2, at 4 p.m. on the Highers Athletics Complex practice fields. Admission to the scrimmage, which is sponsored by Time Warner Cable, is free.
"We have had a productive spring and look forward to ending it on a high note," said Briles, the Bears' second-year head coach. "Being on campus gives us an opportunity to get out students involved and we are looking forward to a great turnout Thursday."
On-line voting at baylorbears.com for guest student coaches ends Wednesday and a special tailgating contest for Baylor student organizations will be held in the Highers Athletics Complex parking lot prior to the scrimmage.
Complimentary 2009 schedule posters will also be available at the scrimmage.
Gates to the Highers Athletics Complex practice fields open at 3 p.m., with the scrimmage set to begin at 4 p.m. Fans are encouraged to park at the Ferrell Center parking lots and ride the complimentary shuttles to the Highers Athletics Complex. The shuttles will run between the Ferrell Center parking lots and the Highers Athletics Complex from 3-7 p.m.
Following the scrimmage, fans will be allowed to take limited tours of the Highers Athletics Complex and the Simpson Athletics and Academic Center. The tours are expected to cover the weight room as well as the building's second floor, however, the team areas (i.e. locker room and training room) will be in use by the Bears and closed to the public on Thursday.
