NORMAN, Okla. - Baylor's fifth-ranked women's tennis team posted its 40th-straight victory over Big 12 opponents when it swept past fourth-seeded Nebraska 4-0 in Big 12 Championship semifinal action on Saturday afternoon. The Bears, playing at the Headington Family Tennis Center on the University of Oklahoma campus, extended their win streak to 17 matches with the victory.

Baylor raised its season record to 23-4 while Nebraska falls to 16-7. The Bears advance to the tournament finals for the sixth time in program history. and will face the second-seeded Texas, a 4-2 semifinal winner over Texas A&M. Match time is 11 a.m.

"Nebraska came out and played really well today. They pushed us in a lot of positions. We really had to dig down deep and figure out a way to win and thankfully we did," said head coach Joey Scrivano.

The Huskers were able to win only six games off Baylor's three singles winners. Freshman Nina Secerbegovic was first off the court for the Bears and extended her win streak to 17 matches by breezing to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 over Jennifer Holmberg. Junior Csilla Borsanyi won her 15th consecutive match with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph on court three against Jana Albers. Another freshman, Kasia Siwosz clinched the win for the Bears with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Stephanie Evans at No. 6.

"Nebraska has a very strong top of the lineup and they can push anybody in the country in my opinion. We knew we were in for a tough test at all positions, but especially at the top. It is good when you can win matches with different players pulling out wins. I am proud of the way our bottom played," said Scrivano.

The Bears dominated doubles play as well, taking less than 45 minutes to win the point to take a 1-0 lead into singles play. At No. 3 doubles, Secerbegovic and Siwosz allowed the Huskers only one game, downing Evans and Weatherholt 8-1. Sophomores Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk secured the doubles point for the Bears with an 8-2 victory over Wiveca Swarting and Holmberg on court two.

"I was proud of the way we played doubles today. We were better than yesterday. We are moving in the right direction, but we have played a lot of tennis in a short period of time. It will be nice when we can get this tournament behind us and get back to the practice court and work on some things," Scrivano added.
