Soccer Falls To North Texas, 2-1

DENTON, Texas - Despite outshooting North Texas 18-9, the Baylor soccer team fell to the Mean Green, 2-1 Friday night in Denton. The loss, the first of the season for the Bears, drops them to 3-1-2, while North Texas moves to 4-1.

Baylor fell behind in the second minute of the game when Michelle Young shot a ball that deflected off BU goalie Gianna Quintana and into the net for a 1-0 lead for UNT.

The Bears answered back in the 19th minutes, as Lotto Smith buried her third goal of the season off an assist from Hanna Gilmore to knot the game at one.

Baylor continued to pepper the UNT goal, registering 10 shots in the opening half to the Mean Green's four.

North Texas took the lead back, and for good, in the 50th minute when Young scored her second goal of the game, beating a defender and knocking it over Quintana for 2-1 advantage.

Baylor freshman Chelsea Geller led the way for the Bears, taking five shots, four of them on goal.

North Texas goalkeeper Mandy Hall make eight saves on the night to help lead UNT to the win.
