MIDLAND, Texas - Baylor's Jelena Stanivuk took down Nebraska's Mary Weatherholt in straight sets to claim the singles title at the Midland Racquet Club Invitational in Midland, Texas on Sunday.

Stanivuk advanced to the championships match after defeating Pepperdine's Ali Walters with a dominant first set, 6-1, and in a tiebreaker in the second set, 7-6 (10-4). In the title match, Stanivuk beat Weatherholt in straight sets also, with scores of 7-5 and 6-3.

In consolation matches, Baylor's Karolina Filipiak defeated Texas A&M's Lauren Santacroce in tiebreakers with scores of 7-6 (10-3) and 7-6 (10-4). Meanwhile, Carla Lindlar also won her second straight consolation match, defeating Texas A&M's Stephanie Davidson 6-2, 7-5.

Stanivuk finished the weekend with a perfect 4-0 singles record, while Filipiak and Lindlar were each 3-1.

The Lady Bears will be back in action in the pre-qualifying rounds of the ITA Riviera All-American on Oct. 3 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
