CC Men Head West to Stanford

WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's cross country team travels to Stanford, Calif., for the Stanford Invitational, which features some of the top-ranked teams and runners in the nation, on Saturday, Sept. 26.
"We're anxious to get to see where we really are, where all of the training we have done really puts us," assistant coach Jon Capron said. "Stanford puts on a great meet with good competition at every level. Ever since missing out on competing at College Station last week, the guys have been chomping at the bit. They have been training really well and some guys have really made huge leaps forward in their training."
The Bears return to action from a two-week break after winning the season-opening Bear Twilight Invitational on their home course. Juniors Robbie Knorr and Jeff Sadler put a big gap between them and the rest of the field, and Knorr took over to win the men's race with a time of 18:48.2. Sadler was second at 18:56.2. Sophomores Zac Flowers and Brandon Reed turned in solid performances in fourth and fifth place with times of 19:19.0 and 19:23.9.
The Stanford course is one these Bears are familiar with, having run in the same meet last season. Knorr and Sadler led the way in that race. Sadler finished 31st with an eight-kilometer time of 25:35, while Knorr was 64th at 26:14, giving Baylor an 11th-place team finish.
"It will be great to get on a repeat course from last year and compare and contrast the results." Capron said. "I think we will find that we have grown up considerably."
After running in the Garland Invitational last week at North Texas, the Baylor women have the weekend off and will travel to Oregon for the Bill Dellinger Invitational on Oct. 3.
