MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
• Baylor leads the all-time series 5-1. This was the first meeting between the programs at Winston-Salem.
• Baylor is 67-36-5 all-time in season openers, 13-23-1 when opening on the road.
• Baylor is 15-16 all-time against current ACC programs.
• Baylor is 28-41-2 all-time in games played east of the Mississippi River.
• Baylor is 40-80-2 all-time in televised games, including a 7-17-1 mark on ABC.
TEAM NOTES
• Baylor improved to 5-2 when leading at halftime during the Art Briles era.
• Baylor snapped a five-game losing streak in road games (Buffalo, 2007) and posted its first road victory of the Briles era.
• Baylor snapped a 14-game losing streak in games in which the opponent rushed for at least 100 yards (Rice, 2007).
• Baylor eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the fifth consecutive game.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Five Bears made their first career starts: RT Philip Blake, DE Tracy Robertson, WR Lanear Sampson, DT Phil Taylor and LT Danny Watkins.
• LB Joe Pawelek started his 34th consecutive game, the longest streak by a Baylor player since Maurice Lane's school-record, 45-game streak that ran from 2002 to 2005.
• RG James Barnard, FS Jordan Lake and C J.D. Walton all started their 25th consecutive games.
• QB Robert Griffin III's second-quarter punt was the first of his career. Griffin punted his first three seasons at Copperas Cove [Texas] High School.
• Griffin has thrown at least one touchdown pass in five consecutive games.
• Pawelek's third-quarter interception was the ninth of his career. He moved into a fifth-place tie nationally among active Division I FBS players, most among linebackers. He also moved to within one interception of Baylor's career top-10 list.
• Pawelek has at least one interception in four of the last five games; that streak includes a two-pick game against Texas A&M.
• Pawelek has created at least one turnover in five of the last six games.
• WR David Gettis' first-quarter touchdown reception was his first since the final play of the first half at Oklahoma State in 2006.
• IR Kendall Wright has recorded at least one reception in 13 consecutive games, each game of his career.
• WR Lanear Sampson's third-quarter touchdown reception was his first career reception.
• IR Ernest Smith's third-quarter touchdown pass was the first pass of his career.
• Smith's touchdown pass was Baylor's first by a player other than Griffin since Kirby Freeman had a touchdown pass against Northwestern State in last year's second game.
• Mikail Baker's interception during the fourth quarter was the first of the career for the senior from Dallas, Texas.
