Complete Information and Results

LOS ANGELES - Two members of the Baylor women's tennis team travel to the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., from Oct. 2-10. The Pre-Qualifying draw is held on Oct. 2-3, followed by the Qualifying draw on Oct. 5-6 and the Main Draw on Oct. 7-10.

Junior Nina Secerbegovic, who led Baylor with 43 singles victories in 2009-10, begins her season in the Main Draw. After a 43-5 record last season, Secerbegovic begins this year ranked No. 10 in singles in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason rankings. With the ranking, she is the fourth top-10 player in the Baylor program in the past four seasons, joining Zuzana Cherna, Zuzana Zemenova and Lenka Broosova.

"Earning the right to play in the main draw in a college grand slam is a huge deal," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "Coming off such a great year, Nina really showed she belongs among the nation's elite players."

Newcomer Sona Novakova will see her first action as a Lady Bear after transferring to Baylor after a brilliant two-year career at Armstrong Atlantic State. During her career at AASU, she put together an astounding 59-5 record in singles play, and helped the Pirates to their third consecutive NCAA Division II title. Novakova will see action first in the pre-qualifying draw taking on eighth-seeded Sasha Krupina of Georgia Tech.

"Sona's a proven winner, and she will have to work her way to the Main Draw," Scrivano said. "If anyone can do it, it's her. Sona has had a lot of success in her career."

Pre-Qualifying rounds take place at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the campus of UCLA, while the Qualifying and Main Draw are played at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
