In support of College Alcohol Awareness Week, Baylor Athletics student-athletes will join a national movement to call attention to alcohol related deaths by placing red flags in the lawn of the Simpson Athletics and Academic Center on Monday, Oct. 18 at 1:30 p.m. The red flags symbolize the deaths of college students due to alcohol related injuries.
According to data collected, 1,825 college students between the ages on 18 and 24 die each year from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor vehicle crashes.
In the past, Baylor's Alcohol Awareness Work Team has displayed red flags on the campus' Fountain Mall and the lawn of the Student Life Center. Red flags will also adorn those locations this year.
