WACO - Emily Goldstein's header in the 68th minute proved enough to lead Iowa State (7-10-2, 2-7) to a 1-0 win over Baylor (10-7-2, 3-6) on Senior Day at Betty Lou Mays Field Sunday afternoon. After entering the weekend undefeated at home, the Bears have dropped two-straight games.
"I am disappointed in this result," head coach Marci Jobson said. "We have to get back to work this week and come out prepared to win next Friday."
In the 68th minute, Goldstein received a pass from Jennifer Dominguez and headed it into the far post for the game's lone goal.
Alex Klein had Baylor's first good look of the game as she was sprung loose with no one in front of her in the 18th minute, but the shot was sent just wide.
Karlee Summey found herself in the same position in the 27th minute, but her shot from 12 yards out was saved by Maddie Jobe.
The Bears outshot the Cyclones 13-11 on the day, including a 7-5 advantage on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Lisa Sliwinski led Baylor with five shots, three on goal.
The Bears have scored two goals, both on penalty kicks, in the last six games.
Baylor will wrap up the regular season by hosting Texas Tech (11-5-1, 4-3-1) on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
