PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Junior Nina Secerbegovic won her second-round match, but fell in the quarterfinals of the Main Draw at the ITA/Riviera Women's All-American Championship on Friday in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
In her first match of the day, the eighth-seeded Secerbegovic took on Arkansas' Anouk Tigu in the Round of 32. Secerbegovic fought off a set point in the first set, then took the tiebreaker to win 7-6(6) before dropping Tigu with a 6-4 second set.
Advancing to the quarterfinals later in the day, Secerbegovic was matched up with Stanford's second-seeded Hilary Barte. The Stanford senior proved to be too much, taking a straight-set win 6-1, 6-2.
"Barte played a great match and is really striking the ball well," Scrivano said. "Nina played well to beat a good player in the first match, but it was just a tough second one."
Baylor will be back home at the Baylor Tennis Center for its next tournament, hosting the USTA/ITA Texas Regional from October 22-26.
