WACO, Texas - Baylor's cross country program will be represented by Cate Westenhover and Robyn Bennett at the 2010 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 22, in Terre Haute, Ind. The women's 6,000-meter race is slated for 12:08 p.m. ET/11:08 a.m. CT.
Westenhover will be making her second appearance at the national meet, after finishing as the second BU runner across the line in 2009. Bennett, a freshman, will make her first appearance.
Westenhover, who placed fourth at the NCAA South Central Regional meet to earn an individual NCAA berth, has finished as the top Baylor runner in each of her four races. The Austin, Texas, native led a 1-2-4 BU finish at the Bear Twilight Invitational to help the Bears win the team title earlier this season.
Bennett, on the other hand, placed seventh at the regional championship to earn her individual bid. Earlier this season, the Queensland, Australia, native led Baylor to a fourth-place finish at the UTA Season Opener, placing as the top BU runner in 15th.
The duo will be the first individual competitors for Baylor since Kara Newton qualified for the national meet in 2001. Baylor had been represented by a full team each year from 2003-09, snapping a streak of seven consecutive appearances until this season.
The full race will be offered in an online video stream at NCAA.com.
