No. 22 Softball Travels To UTA

The No. 22 Baylor softball team (16-7) will hit the road to face UT Arlington (15-9) in a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at Allan Saxe Field in Arlington. The pair of games will finish up the season-long, eight-game road swing for BU.
"I think the break came at a good time for us," head coach Glenn Moore said. It's a very busy week, but we like playing games and need to get rolling towards conference play."
Baylor is coming off a 4-3, nine-inning defeat at Texas State on March 10 that snapped a seven-game winning streak. Senior Nicole Wesley leads the Lady Bears and the Big 12 Conference with a .479 average, while Tiffany Wesley is fifth with a .411 mark. Junior Dani Leal has provided plenty of power, leading the way with six home runs, while junior Jordan Vannatta is seventh in the conference with 25 RBI. Freshman Courtney Repka will be in the circle, holding a record of 9-4 to go with a 1.92 ERA, striking out 56 in 87.1 innings of work this season.
The Mavericks are coming off a three game sweep over the Central Arkansas Bears last weekend home. UTA is led both in the circle and at the plate by Teri Lyles. The freshman is batting .307, while registering a 1.47 ERA and a 7-4 record in 85.2 innings pitched.
Baylor leads the all-time series 47-26-1 after blanking UTA 5-0 in Waco on Feb. 21.The Lady Bears have won five-straight over the Mavericks, with their last loss coming on Feb. 19, 2003, a 10-0 defeat at UTA.
